Baba Saving and Credit Co-operative Ltd.

Nepali society remained confined under an autocratic and unitary system of governance for a long time. After 103 years of Rana regime, the country entered a 30-year Panchayat rule, which, although slightly more flexible, brought little significant change in terms of economic, social, and cultural development. The entire economy remained concentrated in the hands of a few landlords and merchants in villages and towns.

"Baba Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd." was established through the initiative of Mr. Nirmal Kumar Dangi. On 2068/06/28 B.S., the first preliminary meeting was held under the chairmanship of senior member Mr. Sobharam Budha. On the same day, the second preliminary meeting was convened, which formed a 7-member ad-hoc board of directors chaired by Mr. Nirmal Kumar Dangi, and a 3-member audit committee chaired by Mr. Liladhar Khadka.

The institution was officially registered on 2068/09/01 B.S. at the Division Cooperative Office, Ghorahi, Dang, in accordance with the Cooperative Act 2048 B.S., with 25 founding members as shareholder members.

This institution has embraced the fundamental cooperative principle of “All for one and one for all”, operating in the areas of savings and credit, microfinance savings and loans, member insurance and welfare fund, as well as productive and entrepreneurial development. It has been playing a vital role in promoting financial discipline, encouraging the habit of regular saving among members, and contributing to their social and economic upliftment for a prosperous and progressive future.

Over the past decade of continuous service, collaboration, and coordination, the institution has gained valuable knowledge and experience. Building on this foundation, it has set the goal of becoming a leading and responsible cooperative institution in Lumbini Province under the vision:

"Growth of Baba Cooperative: Respect, Dignity, and Prosperity of Shareholder Members."

At its core, the cooperative is committed to accepting only those members who uphold a clean image, moral integrity, and a positive mindset, both economically and socially. Through this, we express our firm commitment to playing a significant role in the advancement, progress, and promotion of the entire cooperative sector and the welfare of all its members.
